The first thing that comes to mind when you hear about the National Football League (NFL) is THE “lock out”. The owners and players union are still trying to work out several issues as we, the fans, wait and wonder the fate of the season. Throughout all these issues there is one professional organization that still puts time and money into their community. The Houston Texans recently revealed a brand new football field that was constructed in the Houston Texans YMCA, which was in need of some fields. The Texans are the first major sports franchise to take a large partnership with the YMCA. Click to see the full article by Joachim Clarke, of the Houston Chronicle.
This is a great example for other NFL teams. Though, all the NFL teams give back to their communities in some manner, the Houston Texans have always been known for it. Building a field for youth football in the Houston YMCA will help the YMCA offer more activities to the children of the community. This will give more options to the children, ultimately keeping them off the street and out of trouble. This is an indoor facility which will allow for sports all year long, regardless of the weather. Developing and upgrading park and recreational programs is crucial for the positive development of the children in all communities. This will also save the community needed money, which the local government can use to focus on creating jobs or other needs.
