The worldwide number of people with diabetes is out and the number is mind-blowing. 350 million people have this preventable disease! That’s the population of the United States and Canada combined. Since the boom of the fast food industry in the 1980′s, the number of people with diabetes has gone up 100%. The obesity numbers? Staggering. What does that tell you?
It’s our responsibility to reverse this fast food loving trend for the betterment of our future generations. Let’s not allow our kids to be fooled by the clever marketing techniques set forth by the fast food corporations. Take a look at this youtube clip from the movie SuperSize Me, it shows a group of children being tested on famous name recognition. All the children were able to easily identify Ronald McDonald.
We’ll slow this diabetes trend by limiting or completely avoiding fast foods. It’s about discipline, a benefit learned from playing youth football. Be picky. Make the right decisions when it comes to what foods you and your kids consume. Keep the portion just right and eliminate daily soda intake.

Fast food is addicting like drugs, just say no to them and you won’t have a problem with it. Even though the fast food industry spends so much on marketing, you as a parent have the most influence over your child and the type of decision making he or she will make growing up. Teach them the best you can early on so that they will make the right choices themselves as teens and adults.
