An overbearing parent belittling a youth football athlete, coach or referee on the field is just not cool.
We encourage grumpy or frustrated parents to think twice, choosing instead to set a positive example for your child and his teammates. When criticism occurs- whether it’s directed at the whole team, a player, coach or youth football referee- everyone (including the kids) can’t help but pay attention. Call it youth football rubbernecking. Your negative frustrations could, in turn, bring the team morale down. Don’t be that jerk.
We look to YFO All-Star parents as examples of how to do it the right way. Positive reinforcement will assist in building your child’s self esteem and get the most potential our of your child on the field.
Check out some incidents of when things get ugly on the field, a horrible example for our football youth.
