2 YFO All-Stars Selected to the Junior Rank Academic All-American Game

Two Youth Football Online All-Stars are playing in the Junior Rank All-American Game on January 2, 2012. RB/QB Kamren Curl and OL/DL Isreal Araiza have been selected. To be selected to the Academic All-American game the players not only have to dominate on the field, but in the classroom as well. Kamren and Isreal will be participating in camps, combines and the big game.

Kamren Curl is a solid youth football player. Kamren also dominates in the classroom. He is an extremely skilled and hard working athlete. Kamren plays both QB and running back. Kamren throws the ball extremely well, he has one heck of an arm. Check out his highlight video below.

Isreal Araiza

Youth Football Online All-Star Selection Isreal Araiza

Isreal Araiza is one of the most skilled youth football linemen in the country. Izzy’s also a bright student. He has great passion for playing the offensive and defensive line. Isreal knows that winning the line of scrimmage is the key to victory in football. It is not fun getting blocked by Isreal.. it’s a difficult task. Check out his highlight video below.

Youth Football Running Back Tips

Youth Football Running Back Tips:

Attitude- Running backs must develop an “attitude” when they run the ball. Attitude meaning running hard and aggressive. What I always tell my running backs-just because you are running the ball doesn’t mean you cannot hit, deliver the blow to the defender. Run with confidence and an attitude that they cannot tackle you!
Squaring the Shoulders- The ball carrier will have 11 players on the other side that will want to tackle and hit him. The running back needs to lower his shoulders and protect himself. Take the fight to the tacklers.
Keep the Legs Pumping- Run through the contact! During my many years of watching youth football games I have noticed a common mistake in nearly every game- the running backs stop moving their feet after contact. We teach our running backs to lower their shoulders and keep their legs pumping. Run through the contact, do not stop- keep those legs pumping.
Ball Security- Keep two hands on the ball when contact arrives. High and tight, cover all the points of the football.

It is no secret that the offensive line needs to block. If they do not block well, the running backs are in for a long day. But, running the football is all about attitude and desire. Running backs need to get down hill, protect themselves (lower shoulder), keep legs pumping and run with confidence.

Here is an example of how a running back needs to run the ball with attitude and a “they cannot tackle me mentality”

Favorite play: “Florida”- Flood to the right side of the field, with a single split end to the left.

Favorite class: Gym

Meet Youth Football Online’s All-Star selection Kamren Curl. Football dominance, solid character and education excellence are traits that we look for and we found them with our latest All-Star selection.

Kamren has been playing the game of football since he was 6 years old. He started his youth football career as a running back; he now plays quarterback in a spread offensive scheme. He has a remarkably strong arm- he can really throw the ball. What impresses me most about Kamren’s QB play is his patience on passing plays. Kamren always keeps head focused downfield as he avoids defenders and zips strong, accurate passes.

Kamren’s talents and accomplishments don’t end at the football field. He fully excels in the classroom as a perennial honor roll student. During our interview discussion Kamren’s dad, Coach Greg, said “If you do well in school, then you can go to a great college”. It’s clear that Kamren is on the right path to future scholastic success. In December, he’ll be participating in an academic all-american football game in Arizona.

Kamren is one of the best 12 year old athletes I have ever seen in youth football. He can make things happen with his legs, as well as throwing the ball. He fits really well into the spread offense, really taking it to the next level. Kamren is a defensive coordinator’s nightmare because he knows how to use the shotgun to its fullest potential.

Kamren also plays well on defense. He racks up numerous tackles a game, at both linebacker and safety positions. I would think twice about throwing anywhere near Kamren Curl. The way he goes up and attacks the ball at its highest point is impressive. He does that both playing youth football receiver and defensive back.

Kamren’s hobbies include playing baseball and basketball. He works on his speed and agility with Velocity Sports Performance. Here’s a picture at the 360 Combine:

When it comes to character, Kamren speaks with respect and humility and seems very coachable. He’s the type of kid that is always looking to learn. He plays the game of football hard, game in and game out. His on-field highlights speak for themselves, check out Kamren on youtube:
